Our Methodology
Every tool on ToolyHealth is evaluated across five dimensions before it is listed. Our process combines AI-assisted analysis with human editorial review to produce accurate, independent, and useful information.
The five dimensions
1. Quality
Does the tool work as advertised? We look at core features, user experience, reliability, and output quality. Bugs, broken onboarding flows, or misleading claims lower the score.
2. Privacy
We read privacy policies and check data handling practices. We flag whether the tool collects health data, shares data with third parties, offers encryption, and supports account deletion. Health data is sensitive, so privacy carries significant weight.
3. Evidence
We look for clinical validation, peer-reviewed studies, FDA or CE markings, and transparent methodology. Wellness-only apps are labeled clearly; we do not allow unverified medical claims.
4. Usability
We assess how easy the tool is to set up and use daily. Factors include platform support, accessibility, language availability, customer support, and integration with wearables or health platforms.
5. Transparency
We reward clear pricing, honest limitations, and visible team or company information. We penalize dark patterns, hidden costs, and vague marketing language.
The review process
- Submission: A tool is submitted by the team or discovered by our editors.
- AI-assisted evaluation: We collect public data on features, pricing, platforms, and privacy practices.
- Human review: An editor tests the tool, verifies claims, and writes an original description.
- Publication: Approved tools are added to the directory with accurate categorization.
- Ongoing monitoring: Active tools are re-reviewed quarterly or when major changes occur.
Editorial independence
We do not accept payment for ratings, rankings, or placement. Commercial relationships, if any, are disclosed. Read our editorial policy.
Limitations
ToolyHealth is a directory, not a medical authority. We do not conduct clinical trials. Our reviews reflect publicly available information and hands-on evaluation at the time of review. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider for medical decisions.
